On
September 21st, ten civic-minded Laurel Hill students participated in
United Way Day of Caring activities. After adopting the Laurel Hill
gazebo/garden area, these kids worked up an action plan for needed
improvements: paint the gazebo and trim/weed/plant flowers in the garden.
They attended council meetings to secure permission to paint the gazebo
and money to help with the projects. Then, with suggestions from the
council meeting in mind, they went to Lowe's to pick out the perfect color
for the gazebo. These students spent the morning of the 21st painting the
gazebo and the rest of the day (through the rain showers) weeding, hoeing,
raking, trimming, and shoveling the garden to prepare a beautiful space to
plant the pansies and mums. This group worked so very hard and we are so
proud of their efforts.
