Why I
love Laurel Hill . . .
by

We moved here from Crestview about 2 years ago. We have 4 children, and
the school systems in Crestview were very demanding, calling all the time
for the least little thing. Most bosses aren't crazy about that. We had
one child in one school, and another one in a different one. Seemed like
someone was always offended over something, because of the many
diversities now there. It was very confusing and hard to keep up with
picking kids up at different times at different places.

Crestview has grown a lot in the last few years and just became too
crowded for us. We were able to move here, and buy a house with 4 acres
for an amount that wouldn't have bought us any kind of house in Crestview.
We like to joke that we have an acre per child, and it is wonderful to let
them run free outside without worrying about who our neighbors are and if
they can be trusted. We know our neighbors here, and they help watch out
for our children like they would their own. That is just the kind of
community it is. My kids have the freedom here they didn't have in the
city and spend more time outside than they ever did before.

The school system is even better. There are good old fashioned values at
work there, and the faculty know how to handle the kids. I'm called when I
need to be called, and that is important when you work.

My children are all in one spot now. They see and watch out for each other
lots throughout the day, and it is a wonderful peace of mind. Now my
husband has joined the Almarante Volunteer Fire Department and we
feel more a part of the community than ever.

I tell everyone how happy I am that we moved here, and how wonderful the
school is.

Home of
the Hobo!

Laurel Hill is a great place to live! Makes you feel at home. A small
school is also great, you don't have to worry about being crowded, or lots
of violence, and drugs like you would have at larger schools. It seems
like no one is a stranger everyone knows you somehow; just like a big
family. Here everyone feels welcome. Laurel Hill is very peaceful, you
don't have to worry about the crowded city; just the country side here!
Everyone lives pretty close to one another in Laurel Hill so you don't
have to worry about traveling a long distance to see a friend. I love
Laurel Hill! It just feels like Home!

"We should have moved here years ago!"

Ed and Susan are former residents of Fort Walton Beach, FL., who decided to relocate to Laurel Hill after Ed retired. "We’ve been very pleased with our choice," Ed says. "When we first came here, our friends and family said we were going to be in the middle of nowhere. Now some of our neighbors think we run a bed and breakfast. My parents moved here, and a lot of our family come here to visit."

"In Fort Walton Beach real estate was very expense -- here we can have a much large home and acreage for less than what a new home would cost there. I made a lot of good friends here and started hunting and fishing again! We should have moved here years ago!"
